Wir sind mit zwei kleinen Kindern unterwegs gewesen und das Zimmer hat mit über 30m² ausreichend Platz geboten. Die Möbel sind neu, hochwertig und modern, ebenso wie das Badezimmer. Einige Abende haben wir auch auf den großzügigen Balkon verbracht.

Das stilvolle Interior des Wellnessbereichs kombiniert Moderne mit Eleganz, und die hochwertigen Liegeflächen im Außenbereich laden zum Relaxen ein. Die Behandlungs- und Massagemöglichkeiten haben wir selbst nicht ausprobiert, von anderen Gästen haben wir jedoch nur Gutes gehört.

Das Konzept mit der Familienzeit von 10Uhr bis 19Uhr haben wir als sehr durchdacht empfunden. Für die Kleinen gibt es einen Kinderpool, der während der Öffnungszeiten ausgiebig genutzt wurde. Der Bademeister war extrem kinderlieb und hat die Freude der Kinder durch das hoteleigene Wasserspielzeug noch vergrößert.

Die Saunalandschaft ist super modern. Wir haben sowohl die Dampfbad und Bio Sauna, wie auch die finnische Sauna in vollen Zügen genossen. Die finnische Sauna hat den direkten Zugang zur Dachterrasse.

Das Restaurant beeindruckt durch eine ständig wechselnden Speisekarte und einem ausgezeichneten veganen Angebot. So können Eltern auch in Ruhe das Dessert genießen, während die Kleinen sich im Spielzimmer austoben. Wir hatten ursprünglich nicht vor jeden Abend im Hotel zu essen, allerdings war jedes Gericht unfassbar lecker. Das trifft sowohl auf die Vorspeisen, wir haben hauptsächlich die Suppen probiert, wie auch auf die Hauptgerichte zu.

Das Frühstücksbuffet verdient eine extrem hohe Bewertung. Ob vegane Angebotsvielfalt oder die Möglichkeit ausgewählte Extras von der Karte zu bestellen, hier wird es sicherlich niemanden geben, der hungrig in den Tag starten muss.

Introduction / first impressions

Domes Zeen Chania is located in Crete nearby the old town of Chania (approx. 5km by car). One of the two international airports of Crete is only 30min away. The immediate vicinity is quite calm and the resort has a direct connection to its own private beach area.

The moment we parked the car, was the moment where relaxing in luxury surroundings started. Already in front of the main entrance we were welcomed by the friendly staff, who immediately took care of our luggage. A welcome drink was served and we enjoyed the beautiful view on the outdoor terrace of the reception hall the first time. Meanwhile, the front desk officer handled all check-in paperwork.

By stepping into the entrance hall, we relished the good smelling room fragrance. This, combined with calm, relaxing music, left no doubt, that this resort might give us outstanding experiences.

Room / Villa

We had been accompanied to our room – or let’s better talk about our villa. We stayed in the Tropical family bungalow with private pool, which we can recommend 100%. The villa offers sufficient space, even for the whole family. We would like to highlight the breathtaking view right from our bed above the sea. All amenities of a 5 star resort are in place and have a high-quality standard. Characterizing for Domes Zeen Chania a is the exceptional interior design, which provided a pure feeling of happiness and sense of well-being. Simply every detail fits in the villa.

Domes Zeen Chania a is located on a hillside and spreads more less over four levels. Stair paths in the mid of the resort are connecting the entrance hall on top with the main area at the bottom as well as a serpentine walking path which runs through the levels of the resort. Particularly highlighted should be the tropical vegetation – plenty of banana palm trees and cacti are decorating the resort. We had the feeling of living somewhere in an oasis.

Whoever decides to book a villa without a private pool, can relax perfectly at the main pool. For us, it was also a welcome variety besides having the private pool, especially, when the sun is drifting in the afternoon hours. At the pool area, there were plenty of water toys for our kids as well.

For the sportive ones, Domes Zeen Chania a offers a stylish outdoor gym, located close to the kids club. We were more than happy to find brand new high quality, fitness machines and modern dumbbells area as well. Needless to say, that the outdoor gym is prepared with fresh towels and water for the sweating athletes.

Gastronomy

We booked half-board and we‘re really thankful about that. Also in the gastronomy area, the atmosphere was on point. The lighting concept is extraordinary and provides a peaceful and romantic mood. Our journey started with the dinner in the first evening. For the most part, we are nourished vegan. Therefore, we were pleased to find the vegan menu card at Domes Zeen Chania a. Another bonus point is, that we are asked by the check-in procedure beforehand if we have any allergies or things we don’t like to eat. All dishes we tried during our stay tasted excellent, were made out of high-quality and fresh ingredients, made with creativeness.

Starting the morning by enjoying Domes Zeen Chania a breakfast buffet was a real pleasure. Enjoying the first cappuccino of the day in the rising Cretan sun, supported to fill our daily well-being scale.

Family / Honeymoons with kids

Domes Zeen Chania a offers a Kids club with different options for nursery services. We enjoyed the family time at Mittagszeit, where parents and kids are welcome to do handicrafts, jigsaws or just play with the toys. The nursery service is free of costs for kids, older than four. The kids club itself has an outdoor area with its own pool for the little ones.

Hospitality

In a nutshell – absolutely impeccable. Really, every employee of the resort we met, regardless of the front desk officer, gardener, housekeeper, bar tender encountered us with kindness. And we should not only reduce it to the kindness, we had the feeling, that everyone understanding his job as being part of the concept. The whole service of Domes Zeen Chania a is outstanding and one of the best we ever had.

Domes Zeen Chania a is one of the best resorts we ever stayed. The modern style, the concept of this hotel, which is visible in every corner provides luxury at the highest level. The first three days, we completely stayed in the resort in order to chill-out. Leaving the hotel on the fourth day for the first time, we were blindsided by the hectic reality. This is one of the biggest compliments we can do to a resort.

Introduction / first impressions

The Residence Maldives is located on the Gaaf-Allif Atoll in the South of the Maldives. Two islands are belonging to The Residence Malvides, named Dhigura and Falhumaafushi. Dhigura island opened recently in 2019, just before the Covid-19 outbreak. The islands are connected with the longest private bridge of the Maldives islands. It has a length of around one kilometer.

Room / Villa

We enjoyed two different room types at The Residence Maldives. The Lagoon Villa and the Overwater Villa. We have to say sorry if you will ask us for a clear recommendation as both have pros and cons.

Of course, the view from the Overwater Villa is absolutely breathtaking and awesome. We stayed at room 848, which is at the end of Dighurah Island. Maybe for some of you, the way to the dining room is a bit too far. On the other hand, we enjoyed the way across the palmtree forrest every single day. We received bikes with child seats and used them everytime. If you want to go by electric car – no problem, just dial zero and ask for the pick-up service. Within 15 to 20 minutes a friendly guy will take you to whereever you want to go.

Room service was very friendly as well. Water and coffee is complementary. You can expect all amenities of a 5 star resort with a high-quality standard, like for example air conditioning, Nespresso machine, daily housekeeping and turndown service or 24-hour in-villa dining. The space of the villas are more than sufficient and the overwater villa has its own dressing area. This was highly appreciated by us, as travelling with two little kids always mean lot of luggage and organizational chaos.

You want to go snorkeling? No problem, just open the door and take the stairs down to the ocean from your private villa. At low tide you can walk nearly until the edge of the reef. Life vests is in your room and the snorkeling equipment you can rent for free at the watersports center.

Resort / Outdoor area of The Residence Maldives

Where to start – the two islands offer a lot of possibilities for having fun or just relaxing. You can enjoy and relax at the main pool area, which we can recommend to visit during the sunset hour.

For sure, one of the main attrctions is the big jetty between Dhiguah and Falhumaafushi island. The sandbank during the low tide is the perfect place to make some honeymoon shots. You can also relax in one of the three hammocks, which are placed at the beginning of the sandbank.

Besides the crystal clear ocean, we loved to enjoy walking around the palm tree forest as well.

Of course the islands offer a lot of possibilities to lean back. To be honest, travelling with two kids combined with some sportive activities may encourage the wish for a further relaxation. For this, the spa area of The Residence, which is equipped with product of Clarins, provides you the perfect opportunity. he Residence Maldives is the only resort on the Maldives with a Spa of Clarins. The treatment rooms of the Spa are simply amazing and unique. We enjoyed our signature massage two times and have to state that it had been far too less. After the treatment, we received a fresh tea and relax on the terrace of the pavillion. If you are enjoying The Residence Maldives as your honeymoon stay, needless to say, that some relaxing moments are obligatory.

Gastronomy / Dining

As mentioned before, the two islands are connected by the long jetty. You can enjoy your dining on Falhummafushi or on Dhiguah island. At our arrival, we asked for vegan options at dinner. On the first evening in the dining room we were welcomed by the cook. He was pleased to serve us some vegan options. Even without that special service it had been very easy to find many vegetarian and vegan alternatives at the buffet.

All dishes and ingredients were very fresh and some of them coming from the self made garden, which is located in the middle of Dhigurah island.

During breakfast time, you find a fruit bar and in the evening hours you have a pasta zzgl. grill station.

Family / Honeymoons with kids

Traveling with kids is completely different. Since 2018, we know what we are talking about. It’s not that easy to find a resort where all fits for the whole family. The Residence Maldives is offers a kids club zzgl. playground. Our little ones loved to play the whole day in the pool, watching out for the fishes and turtles from the jetty. Collecting sea shells along the sandbank was a daily ritual as well. The whole resort is very child friendly. In every second we had the feeling that the littles are welcome.

Hospitality

It shall be known as a compliment to the resort, that we are not really sure what convinced us the most, the outstanding landscape and nature or the hospitality. The Residence Maldives has between 500 and 600 employees on both islands. So far, we visited many hotels and places in the world, but without any doubt, we immediately can confirm, that the hospitaltiy was exceptional.
